This is a beautiful example of Pleuroceras spinatus from the Jurassic of Germany. The ammonite is preserved in a natural concretion, and both halves of the concretion are intact. This particular ammonite is replaced by iron pyrite, which makes for a striking display. The ammonite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix, and it exhibits great detail all the way down to the inner whorls. This is a wonderful display specimen of a Jurassic ammonite in a concretion.
