This is an exciting fossil arthropod. It is a large Eurypterus lacustris from the Silurian of Ontario, Canada. Some of these ''sea scorpions'' were terrors of the Silurian sea. Although some parts of the paddles and the tip of the telson have been restored on this specimen, it is a relatively complete eurypterid that displays very well. The fossil has excellent color and contrast and is wonderfully positioned on the rectangular plate of dense limestone. This is a very large fossil eurypterid preserved in a textbook pose.
