This is simply a beautiful ammonite fossil. It is a striking specimen of Asteroceras sp. from the Jurassic of England. This ammonite has been highly polished to reveal the gorgeous coloration and intricate suture pattern of the cephalopod. The inner whorls of the ammonite are well preserved, and the individual body chambers are clearly defined. The distinct ribbing pattern is fully intact and easily seen. The green and white coloration is totally natural - it has not been dyed or artificially colored in any way. The ammonite is aesthetically positioned on the huge block of matrix, making this a world-class display fossil. This is a very beautiful example of this classic fossil from the famous Frodingham Ironstone of Scunthorpe, England (display stand is included for free).
