This is a plate of five Pentremites blastoids and an unidentified brachiopod. This specimen is from the Mississippian of Illinois. The fossils are very 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail. The ambulacra of the blastoids are well defined. Even the spiracles are nicely exhibited. The brachiopod retains both valves. The gray color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the yellowish matrix. There are also some bryozoans on the plate. This is a nice plate of these primitive echinoderms in association with a brachiopod.
