This is an excellent example of Voluta sp. from the Eocene of Russia. This gastropod is quite large and extremely 3-dimensional. The fossil snail is very colorful and exhibits great detail. The whorling pattern is quite evident, and the coarse ornamentation is clearly defined. Even the tiny tip of the gastropod is intact. A small amount of ''mother rock'' is present near the aperture of the snail and several partial mollusks can be seen embedded in the matrix. This is a fine specimen of this Eocene gastropod from an exotic location.
