This is a very displayable plate of ammonites from the Jurassic of Russia. There are two wonderful examples of Cosmoceras proniae on this slab. This type of ammonite has many, many ribs and a sharp keel. Both of the ammonites are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail. The ribbing pattern is quite evident, and the inner whorls of the ammonites are easily seen. The nacreous shell of the ammonites is intact, and the iridescent coloration is just spectacular (even better than the picture)! The fossil cephalopods are beautifully centered on the block of concretionary matrix. This is a stunning specimen of ammonites from Russia.
