This is a rare and unusual fossil. It is a Cordulagomphus fenestratus dragonfly from the Santana Formation of Brazil. This dragonfly lived during the Cretaceous Period, at the same time as the dinosaurs! This dragonfly has beautiful natural coloration and is VERY detailed. You can even see the small legs and eyes. But the best feature of this fossil is the natural "lacewing" pattern that is still preserved in the wings. It is very rare in the fossil record to find a fossil dragonfly with wings this detailed. This is a very collectible fossil, and one of the best fossil dragonflies we have ever had.
