This is a very rare whale fossil. It is a large canine tooth from the extinct Archaeocete Whale, Zygorhiza. This type of "shark-toothed" whale had pointed canine teeth in the front of the jaws, and wide, serrated teeth in the back. This tooth is a canine, from the front of the mouth. The tip of the tooth is practically flawless, with the very tip and the striations almost perfectly preserved. The root is also intact, although it has been extended for completeness. This tooth is so large (7.5"), it looks more like a dinosaur tooth than a mammal tooth! This is a very high quality and collectible tooth from an extinct Eocene whale.
