This is a really nice fossil feather. This specimen is from the Eocene of Utah. As you know, bird remains are very rare in the fossil record. This fossil feather exhibits fine detail. To make the specimen even more interesting, the feather is surrounded by a host of fossil mosquitoes. The fossils have good color and contrast nicely with the light colored matrix. The fossils are well positioned on the natural plate of matrix. This is a very unique plate of a fossil feather and insects.
