This is a gorgeous specimen of Archimedes sp. from the Mississippian of Missouri. This unusual cork-screw shaped bryozoan is unique to the Mississippian of North America. This large specimen is extremely 3-dimensional and well prepared. It is very dark in color and contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The bryozoan is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate. This is a huge, very aesthetic specimen of Archimedes from Missouri.
