This is a very interesting assemblage of fossils. This specimen is from the Silurian of Indiana. There is a large gastropod, Platyostoma sp., on the plate. The gastropod is very dark and shows the coiling pattern of the organism. There is a crinoid holdfast present. The holdfast exhibits many branching "roots". A nice Eucalyptocrinites sp. crinoid cup is displayed. The plates of the crinoid cup are quite noticeable. In addition, there are two different brachiopods preserved on the plate. The fossils are very 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail. They have great color and contrast. The assorted fossils are well presented on a rounded plate of matrix. This is a very displayable example of Silurian life forms from the Waldron Shale.
