This is a beautiful fossilized mammoth tusk. It is a large tusk from the Wooly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. This specimen was found in the same area that was featured in the Discovery Channel special, "Raising the Mammoth". This tusk is from an immature mammoth, meaning the Mammoth was not fully grown when it died. The tusk is complete down to the very tip, and even has the root intact. The outer covering of the tusk, or "bark", has been polished off to expost the striking white color of the fossil ivory. Modern-day elephant tusks are illegal to sell, so the value of the ivory in this legally-obtained Mammoth tusk is substantial. This is a very collectible Mammoth tusk that displays beautifully (display stand is included for free).
