This is an excellent specimen of Orophocrinus stelliformis from the Mississippian of Missouri. This beautiful, star-shaped blastoid is highly prized by the local collectors. It is a lucky day for the collector when one of these blastoids is found. This blastoid is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits great detail. The anal opening is easily seen. The small spiracular slits are even evident in this specimen. The echinoderm has great off-white color that contrasts nicely with the brown matrix. The fossil is well centered on the squared limestone block. This is a wonderful specimen of this unusual blastoid.
