This is a VERY unusual Mammoth fossil. It is an intact ball and socket joint from the European Wooly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. Mammoth Teeth or Tusks are occasionally found, but bones are rarely found fully intact, because they are so large. This set is very unusual because it has the pelvis "socket" AND the leg bone "ball" both present. Both specimens have good bone detail, and, yes, the ball fits perfectly in the socket (they were found together). This is one of the more unusual Mammoth fossils you will ever come across.
