This is a nice association of specimens from the Cretaceous of Texas. There is a beautiful regular echinoid, Goniopygus saleniaformis, on the block of matrix. This hard-to-find echinoid is in excellent, unweathered condition. The ambulacra of the echinoid are nicely displayed. The large tubercles where the spines attached are easily seen. There are many small pustules intermingled with the large tubercles on the test of the echinoid. There is also a bivalve, Pecten texanus, on the same block of limestone. This bivalve exhibits a very coarse ribbing pattern. The fossils are very 3-dimensional. They have great color and contrast. They are nicely presented on the block of matrix. This is a very displayable specimen from the Goodland Formation.
