This is a very attractive specimen of Jurassic ammonites from Russia. There are two examples of Cosmoceras proniae on the plate. This type of ammonite has many ribs and a fairly sharp keel. Both of these ammonites are preserved in a 3-dimensional fashion and exhibit wonderful detail. The inner whorls of the ammonites are clearly defined, and the ribbing pattern is easily seen. The iridescent coloration of the ammonites is just spectacular! The nacreous shell of the cephalopods flash many gorgeous hues of red, yellow, and green. The ammonites are well positioned on the dense, concretionary matrix, making for a beautiful display. This is a great ammonite specimen from Russia.
