Here is a beautiful specimen of a regular echinoid. This is Arbacia sloani from the Pliocene of South Carolina. This echinoid is very 3-dimensional and exhibits excellent detail. The plate structure is terrific. Under magnification, each plate displays a rugose or striated surface. The ambulacra of the echinoid are easily seen. This sea urchin has rows of tubercles on each side of the ambulacra. The fossil has great color and contrast. It is well presented on a block of matrix. This is a highly detailed specimen of Arbacia sloani from South Carolina.
