This is a spectacular ammonite from the Cretaceous. It is a Cleoniceras cleon from Madagascar. This ammonite is HUGE - well over seven inches across. This fossil mollusk has been cut in half and both halves have been highly polished. The exterior of the ammonite shows some of the intricate suture pattern, while the interior exhibits beautiful, natural coloration. The coiling pattern of the cephalopod is easily seen, and the individual chambers are clearly defined. Many of the chambers are hollow and filled with sparkling calcite crystals. The large size, gorgeous coloration, and fine detail make for a striking display. This is a fossil that would look great in anyone's home or office.
