This is a wonderful ammonite from an unusual location. It is an Arnioceras sp. from the Jurassic of Chile. Both the part and counterpart of this unique fossil are present. This well preserved ammonite is very attractive and exhibits fine detail. The coarse ribs are quite evident, and the tiny inner whorls are clearly defined all the way to the very center. The ammonite has good color and contrast and is well centered on the plates of matrix that also contain several partial bivalves and another smaller ammonite. There are also many ammonites on the reverse side of one of the slabs. This is a very displayable example of this South American ammonite.
