This is a very displayable plate of fossils from the Mississippian of Illinois. There are 8 blastoids, Pentremites sp., plus a brachiopod and a solitary coral on the slab. All of the fossils are quite inflated and exhibit wonderful detail. The plate structure of the blastoids is superb, and the wide ambulacra are clearly defined. Even the small spiracles at the tops of the blastoids are easily seen. The ornamentation of the horn coral is very distinct, and even the septae are quite evident. The brachiopod has both valves preserved and nicely articulated. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well presented on the natural slab of shale that contains several bryozoans. This is a very attractive plate of different fossils from the Ridenhower Formation.
