Here is an excellent fossil insect from the Eocene of Utah. This large Snout Beetle exhbits superb detail. The head, body, and legs of the insect are quite evident. The wing covers display extremely fine reticulation. The dark color of the insect contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The specimen is well presented on the natural plate of oil shale. This is an outstanding fossil Snout Beetle from the Green River Formation.
