This is a very aesthetic plate of brachiopods. These are Mucrospirifer sp. from the famous Silica Shale of Ohio. There are three examples of Mucrospirifer on the plate. This type of brachiopod has very long lateral ''wings'' which are beautifully displayed on this specimen. All of the brachiopods have both valves intact and are nicely articulated. The fine detail of the fossil ''lamp shells'' is quite remarkable. The radial ornamentation is clearly defined, and even the fine growth lines are easily seen. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are nicely composited on the plate of shale. This is an extremely attractive plate of Devonian brachiopods from Ohio.
