This is an unusual fossil sea urchin. It is an Acrosalenia hemicidaroides from the Jurassic of France. This 3-dimensional echinoid is very ornate and exhibits fine detail. Many of the long spines are still attached to the test, which is extremely rare. Even some of the thin, tiny spines are present. The fossil has very good color and contrast and is well centered on the block of limestone that contains many other echinoderm fragments. This is a highly collectible echinoid from the Jurassic of France.
