This is a rare vertebrate fossil. It is a Glossotherium chapadmalense (Sloth) tusk from the Pliocene of Florida. Sloth remains are relatively uncommon in the fossil record, and complete tusks are rare and extremely sought-after. This specimen is large and has nice detail. The curvature is very distinct and the tip has a beautiful wear facet preserved. The tusk has no repair or restoration to it whatsoever. It is a very definitive fossil from a very unusual ancient mammal.
