This is a gorgeous specimen of Cleoniceras cleon from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. This large ammonite has been cut in half, and both halves have been highly polished. The coiling pattern of the mollusk is easily seen, and the individual chambers are clearly defined. Some of the chambers are hollow and filled with sparkling calcite crystals. The large size of the specimen combined with the exquisite colors of the ammonite make for a stunning display. This is a beautiful fossil that would look great in home or office.
