This is a stunning ammonite plate from the Cretaceous of Russia. We recently obtained this exceptional fossil from the Valverde Collection. There are two wonderful examples of Aconeceras trautscholdi and several specimens of Deshayesites deshayesi on this block. Aconeceras has faint ribbing and a very sharp keel. Both of the Aconeceras have the nacreous shell intact and exhibit a high degree of iridescense. Deshayesites has extremely strong ribbing and a rounded keel. The Deshayesites in the middle of the slab shows the intricate suture pattern. All of the ammonites are 3-dimensionally preserved and possess fine detail. The cephalopods have excellent color and contrast and are beautifully displayed on the block of concretionary matrix. And best of all, the ammonites are totally natural to the plate - they have not been composited! This is a remarkable plate of Cretaceous ammonites from Russia.
