This is a wonderful multiple block of Pavlovia sp. from the Jurassic of Russia. This specimen was recently acquired from the Richard Busch Collection. Busch was the Preparator/Asst. Curator at the North Museum in Lancaster, PA from 1965-1992. There are seven examples of this ammonite on the block of sandstone matrix, although not all of them can be seen in the photo. This type of ammonite has a very rounded keel and extremely strong ribs that bifurcate near the shoulder of the shell. All of the ammonites are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail. The ribbing pattern is clearly defined, and the tiny inner whorls of the ammonites are quite evident. Even the intricate suture pattern of the cephalopods is easily seen. The fossils have excellent color and are beautifully displayed on the piece. This is a very attractive specimen of these strongly-ribbed ammonites from the Busch Collection.
