This is an excellent Cave Bear, Ursus uralensis, jaw from the Pleistocene of Russia. Cave bear material is becoming harder to obtain as the cave deposits have been heavily collected. This large Cave Bear jaw is almost totally intact and still has five teeth firmly embedded - even the pointed canine tooth is present. The teeth have excellent enamel and exhibit hardly any wear. The molars display the corrugated grinding surfaces in wonderful fashion, and the large canine tooth is in great condition. Both sides of the jaw display beautifully. This is an outstanding specimen of a Cave Bear jaw from the Ice Age of Russia.
