This is a beautiful specimen of ammonites from the Jurassic of Russia. There are two examples of Cosmoceras proniae on the plate. This type of ammonite has fine ribbing and a very sharp keel. Both ammonites are quite 3-dimensional and exhibit excellent detail. The ribbing pattern is easily seen, and the inner coils of the ammonite are clearly defined. The nacreous shell of the cephalopods is intact, and the iridescent coloration is very stunning. The ammonites are wonderfully displayed on the sculpted block of concretionary matrix. This is a very attractive double specimen of Cosmoceras from the Jurassic.
