Here is a very striking stromatolite specimen. This is Copperia tubiformis from the Precambrian of Australia. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae. This stromatolite has been estimated to be 2.2 to 2.4 billion years old! This thick slab has been polished on one side. The unique coloration is totally natural and makes for a stunning display. This is a very attractive specimen of this distinctive stromatolite from ''Down Under''.
