This is a nearly perfect eurypterid fossil. It is a Eurypterus remipes from New York State. This type of fossil is the State Fossil of New York. This specimen is complete, with both paddles and ALL the walking arms intact - this is a very rare occurrence in the fossil record. The eurypterid is almost perfectly centered on the squared matrix block. This specimen displays beautifully. It is one of the best eurypterid fossils we have ever had.
