This is a very pretty slab of stromatolite from the Precambrian of Wisconsin. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae. This thick slab has been highly polished on one side. The unique greenish coloration of this stromatolite makes for a striking display. This is a very attractive slice of an extremely old stromatolite.
