This is a very interesting stromatolite slab from the Lower Cambrian of California. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae. This thick slab has been highly polished on one side. The unique pattern of the stromatolites is beautifully displayed, and the different colors of the mineral replacement are quite striking. This is an excellent slab of this unusual stromatolite from the Marble Mountains of California.
