This is a very unique vertebrate fossil. It is the partial skull of Canis lupus, a wolf, from the Miocene of China. Wolf remains from this site are highly uncommon. There are still nine teeth firmly embedded in the 3-dimensional skull. There are six molars, a large canine, and two incisors present. The teeth have excellent enamel and exhibit only a slight amount of natural wear. The cream-colored teeth contrast beautifully with the snow-white bone of the skull. This is a wonderful dentary specimen from an unusual Miocene wolf.
