This is a very unusual fossil worm. It is an excellent specimen of Macaridian sp. from the Silurian of New York. This armor-plated worm is one of the rarest fossils to be found in the Rochester Shale. This extremely inflated specimen exhibits wonderful detail - the individual plates are beautifully defined. The worm has good color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a stunning example of this highly uncommon fossil worm.
