This is a very detailed crab fossil. It is a Zantopsis dufouri from the Eocene of Spain. This type of crab has very large bumps and mounds covering the surface of the carapace - this specimen showcases this feature beautifully. The crab has both claws intact, with the pincers well displayed. The exoskeleton of the crab is wonderfully preserved and has excellent natural color. The crab is nicely perched on a block of dense limestone matrix. This is a very collectible fossilized crab from Europe.
