This is a very attractive slab of stromatolite from the Precambrian of Wisconsin. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae. This large slab has been highly polished on one side for optimal display. The unique greenish coloration of this stromatolite makes for a striking specimen. This is a beautiful slice of an extremely old piece of the Earth's history.
