This is a very detailed fossil. It is a complete Mercenaria mercenaria bivalve from Okeechobee County, Florida. This specimen was collected from the famous Sham Rock and Shell Pit (Ruck's Pit). Both valves are intact and have great detail - the distinct ribbing pattern is easily seen. The classic shape of the valve is also intact. And there are even some calcite crystals growing out of the shell! This is a very fine example of a Mercenaria mercenaria bivalve from Florida.
