This is an excellent European ammonite. It is a large Keplerites sp. from Gloucestershire, England. This type of ammonite has a rounded keel and fine, but distinct, ribbing - this specimen showcases these features beautifully. The ammonite has exquisite detail and is complete down to the tiny inner whorls, which is extremely rare. The ancient cephalopod is very robust and 3-D and displays beautifully on the large 5.5" X 10.5" block of fossil limestone ''coquina''. This is an incredibly fine specimen of Keplerites from the famous Lias Beds of England.
