This is a very rare fossil. It is a horseshoe crab, Euproops sp., from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. The fossil exhibits very good detail - both the head and the body of this horseshoe crab are well preserved. The crab has been fossilized in a round siderite concretion - thousands of these concretions are broken open before one of these crabs is found. This is a very nice specimen of a primitive horsehoe crab from the Coal Age deposits of the ''Show Me State''.
