This is a very nice plate of sublithographic limestone with a beautiful shrimp exposed. This is Carpopenaeus callirostris from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this location are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. The shrimp is wonderfully preserved and has great color and detail. The segmented carapace, legs, and long antennae are all beautifully displayed. The fossil has been darkened for contrast (typical of this site) and is nicely showcased on the somewhat squared plate of matrix. This is a great example of a fossil shrimp from Lebanon.
