Here is an ammonite from an unusual location. This is Scaphites hippocrepis from the Cretaceous of Kansas. It has been a number of years since these ammonites from Kansas have been collected and we don't expect many more of them becoming available. This unusually coiled ammonite is complete to the aperture. It is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The coarse ribs and the extremely wide, rounded keel are nicely displayed. It is very well preserved in half of a concretion. This is a nice specimen of Scaphites hippocrepis from the Cretaceous of Kansas.
