Here is a rare and extremely unusual arthropod. This is a fine specimen of Pseudoarctolepis sharpi, a phyllocarid. Phyllocarids are among the lesser known crustaceans. They are distinguished by a rather large carapace, hinged at the top, which sheltered the anterior part of the body. This specimen displays the carapace and stabilizing arms very nicely. It has nice natural color and contrasts wonderfully with the matrix. This is a very fine example of this strange ''winged'' arthropod from the Middle Cambrian trilobite beds of Utah.
