Here is a nice echinoid that we recently obtained from an old echinoderm collection. This is Echinocorys ovatus from the Cretaceous of France. The echinoid has been removed from the surrounding rock so that it can be viewed from all angles. This sea urchin is very large and extremely inflated - it is 3 inches high! The plate structure of the echinoid is clearly defined and the ambulacra are easily seen. The mouth and anus of the echinoderm are quite visible on the underside of the test. This is a very impressive echinoid from Europe.
