This is a nice specimen of Rhipidomella burlingtonensis from the Mississippian of Iowa. This type of brachiopod has very fine radial ornamentation. The growth lines are wonderfully displayed. The pinkish-colored fossil contrasts nicely with the white matrix. The brachiopod is well positioned on the somewhat rounded plate of limestone. This is a fine example of Rhipidomella from the Upper Burlington Formation.
