Here is a very nice ammonite. It is a Dactylioceras commune from the Jurassic of England. This type of ammonite has many whorls with closely-spaced ribs and a very rounded keel. This large specimen is quite 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The inner whorls are clearly defined, and the ribbing pattern is easily seen. The cephalopod has very good color and contrast and is nicely positioned on the natural block of concretionary matrix. This is a great specimen of this ''classic'' ammonite from England.
