This is an excellent specimen of Straparolus sp. from the Lower Burlington Formation of Missouri. Good examples of this flat-spired gastropod are very rare and highly prized by local collectors. This specimen is very, very nice. The gastropod is 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The coiling of the organism is very well displayed. There are many crinoid fragments also on the plate. The fossils have excellent off-white color and contrast nicely with the yellowish-brown matrix. The gastropod is beautifully centered on the squared block of limestone. This is a wonderful specimen of this large gastropod from the Mississippian.
