This is a large Russian Ammonite. It is a very nice Cadoceras from the Jurassic Callovian Layers. This specimen has been prepared free of matrix (loose) so both sides can be viewed at all angles. The ammonite has a great suture pattern preserved. Part of the ammonite has been replaced with beautiful golden pyrite. And the ammonite is very wide - 2.5 inches wide to be exact. This is a very displayable example of this robust type of ammonite.
