This is a stunning assemblage of Ordovician organisms. It is a large slab with six cystoids, four brittlestars, and an unidentified trilobite preserved. The cystoids are complete, with the long, thin stems, cylindrical bodies, and long, finger-like arms nicely intact. The tubular bodies of the cystoids have excellent plate detail preserved (hard to see in photo). The large cystoid seems slightly different than the five smaller ones - it could be a different species. The brittlestars are very large and also have great detail preserved. They are also more inflated and 3-D than most brittlestars. On the left side of the plate is cornute carpoid and a tiny trilobite. The trilobite looks like Eudolatites, but this type gets to well over six inches long - this teeny bug may be undescribed. The fossils are very aesthetically spaced on the large, natural plate of sandstone - amazing that they are all preserved together on the same rock. This is an incredible assortment of unusual animals from the Ordovician sea floor.
