This is a very displayable specimen of fossil gastropods from the Mississippian of Iowa. These gastropods are found in an extremely hard limestone matrix. The specimen has been prepared to show three gastropods in close association with each other. It is a very unusual occurrence to have this many specimens in such close proximity. The fossil snails are extremely 3-dimensional. The base of the matrix block has been sawed flat for optimal display of the gastropods. This is a very unique specimen of fossil snails from the Mississippian.
